  1. This is the latest version of GNU Chess.

  3. I've made quite a few modifications since the last version
  4. was posted (in December or January).  I've split the program
  5. into two parts -- a chess engine and an interface section.  This
  6. may make it easier for people to customize an interface for
  7. their own needs.  I've included two interfaces, one is a
  8. simple alpha board display and another is for use in conjunction
  9. with Sun Chesstool or Xchess.  I may send alpha and graphics
  10. interfaces for MSDOS at a later date.  As far as chess ability
  11. goes this version is about 25% faster and has several new
  12. heuristics so it should play substantially better.
